DR Josh Doble of Community Land Scotland, in his article (“Can a derelict garden in St Andrews lead to Scottish land reform?”, May 5), seeks to conflate two quite distinct issues: the enforced sale of an abandoned plot in a small neglected urban site in St Andrews, and his broader ambition to see Scotland’s rural estates broken up.
