The US has form on barbarity in relatively recent times. I’m old enough to remember their carpet bombing of Cambodia, which killed an estimated 600,000 civilians and set that country up for the nightmare that was the Khmer Rouge. At least Harold Wilson had the sense to tell the Americans the UK wasn’t going to get involved in Vietnam.
