Congratulations to Highland Council for standing up and objecting to the controversial Spittal to Beauly overhead line (“Campaigners hail council after it raises objection to power line”, November 4). SSEN want to carve through the Highlands with outdated Beauly-Denny-style lattice towers, feeding into substations so vast they defy imagination — all to encourage hundreds, maybe thousands, more onshore wind turbines. Not for localised or cheap energy, but to hit Holyrood’s export targets and line the pockets of multinationals.
