FEIN to set new construction sector standards with revolutionary reveal at Safety & Health Expo

FEIN, the power tools and accessories manufacturer, is pleased to announce plans for a much-anticipated high-safety angle grinder unveiling at the 2022 Safety & Health Expo.

In the three years since the last show the manufacturer has invested considerably into its R&D (research and development), working in collaboration with one of the world’s largest construction firms to develop the brand-new tool, which is set to significantly reduce accidents on construction sites.

According to HSE (Health and Safety Executive) in 2020-21 alone, the UK construction sector saw 39 fatal injuries[i]. In addition, in 2019 over a fifth (22%) of fatal accidents at work in the EU were as a result of losing control of a machine, tool or transport/handling equipment[ii]. Further to this, RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) ranks angle grinders as the third most dangerous tools, with 5,400 injuries recorded annually[iii].

“The fact accidents on construction sites and tool related injuries continue to be rife is unacceptable, which is why we’ve developed a solution to tackle this very issue. We firmly believe this ground-breaking new high-safety angle grinder, which will be unveiled to the UK at the show, is going to revolutionise safety on site – ultimately providing a solution for firms to push health and safety to the forefront of their agenda.

“Not only is the misuse of tools resulting in dangerous incidents and in some cases devastating fatalities amongst construction workers, but the financial repercussions can be detrimental to businesses,” comments Andy Mills, managing director, FEIN UK.

In 2020-21, HSE issued £5.3 million in total fines, at an average of around £80,000 per conviction, to construction organisations that had failed to comply with health and safety regulation/due to inadequate health and safety standards[iv].

“The Safety & Health Expo is set to reunite industry leaders and professionals alike in person, for the first time since before the pandemic, making it the perfect opportunity for us to launch a solution we firmly believe is going transform the construction sector for the better,” continues Andy.

With over 150 years’ experience in manufacturing power tools, FEIN has a proud history of innovation and provides high levels of support to dealers, along with application-based solutions for end-users in the construction and fabrication sectors.

“The new product will be revealed on our stand to the UK market on 17th May, with interested parties able to register their interest ahead of launch later this year. Our team of experts will also be on hand to share insight on how this solution will help significantly reduce accidents on site, as well as unique features that could ultimately save lives,” concludes Andy.

To find out more, visit FEIN on stand SH1080 at the Safety & Health Expo, between 17th-19th May, at ExCel London. For additional information about FEIN, visit fein.com/en_uk/.
